The Holy Spirit is the pledge of your inheritance
"In Him you also, having heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and having believed in Him, are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the pledge of our inheritance, for the redemption of His inheritance, to the praise of His glory."
Ephesians 1:13-14
There comes a time in every Christian's life when we begin to question whether we have the right to ask God for something. It seems to us that we are unworthy to come to Him with a request. After all, who is man? But Scripture repeatedly reminds us that we have that right because we are heirs of the kingdom of God. Paul writes about it this way:
"And if children, then also heirs, heirs of God, co-heirs with Christ, if only with Him we suffer so that with Him we may also be glorified."
Romans 8:17
Heirs receive all that the Father has. Therefore, to every Christian, God has promised many blessings. They are not primarily related to material gifts. God promises that we will live in His city and have eternal life. To make us sure of this, He has left us a pledge - the Holy Spirit.
Through the Holy Spirit we can understand the Scriptures, confess Jesus Christ as Lord, have fellowship with Him in prayer, and receive forgiveness of sins. Therefore, anyone who has the Holy Spirit in him has undeniable proof that we will receive all that the Lord has promised us.
